For reasons too numerous to go into, this headboard and bed was the only one we found that would fit up our narrow stairway. Hence we had to step down in quality. Having said that, the support legs in the center of the bed were really flimsy and one of the plastic feet on the center leg broke on the first night. On our hard wood floor, the bed was sliding everywhere on its plastic feet and the center support and legs were caving in. You would think a bed, even on the cheaper side would work as advertized. I eventually rebuilt the supports by replacing the plastic feet with sturdier ones from home depot, braced both sides of all of the center legs and center beam with t-braces and screwed down the platform slats directly into the center support. We then had a sheet metal shop cut us 2 pieces of 14 gauge sheet metal to put over the platform slats. We also had to put non slip pads under the center feet and the corner legs. After all of that, the bed is now sturdy and we are enjoying it. I have ordered a steel support beam and legs from my welder to beef it up further in the near future.
So, the price of the bed reflects a lower quality support. So if you buy this bed it is adaptable with a great deal of effort.
